I have been thinking a lot about personal power lately. The issue looms large in our society now. As we observe abuses of power in the world we can all take a step back and reflect on the energetic state of our personal power and where we can balance it for better health, well being and influence.
In the chakra system the SOLAR PLEXUS is the center of personal power.
The solar plexus is located between the bottom ribs and belly button. This chakra develops between 8 and 12 years old. The solar plexus governs the stomach, liver, gallbladder, pancreas and adrenal glands, and is responsible for helping to digest and transform our food and our life experience. Physical imbalance here includes digestive complaints, disturbances in blood sugar, and food intolerance.
Healthy embrace of personal power is an antidote to fear
The abilities to act, to adjust, and to change are associated with this chakra. While the root and sacral chakras are about physical and emotional energy and survival, the third chakra holds the potential for outer transformation, bringing change and growth to ourselves and our world.
The element of fire is a great metaphor for the Solar Plexus Chakra as fire changes all it touches. It transforms matter into invisible elements like heat and gas. The solar plexus is where we transform the energy from the lower chakras and move it upward into the higher chakras.
