Holiday stress or holiday joy? The holidays are about JOY. Or are they?
How do you cultivate joy when you are, worn down and perhaps under-appreciated?
How can you feel joy if you have been unemployed for much longer than anticipated?
How can you be joyful when there is so much stress, strife and negativity in the world?
How can you make room for joy when there is so much to do?
Here we are again in the holiday season associated with Joy, Happiness and Peace on Earth! The thing is that those sentiments and their energies are not the only energy pervading the air in December. Holiday stress emerging from multiple sources is also with us.
There are several energies that rock around in the atmosphere at this time of year, all of quite palpable and often in conflict with one another. First there isthe holiday stress that comes from the hustle and bustle, the cooking and shopping, the rushing to get everything done and the expectation to show up and participate in multiple holiday events.
Second we have the wonderful energy of good will, openness, generosity, kindness and happiness that may elude us at other times of the year. These feelings seem more available for us to feel, sense , and touch now. Even in the midst of stress they exert some influence guiding us forward anticipation and excitement.
Third we have holiday stress coming with a heavier energy that is present for a variety of reasons. There may be tragedies or catastrophes in the world at large. Personally some may be experiencing loss or grief when the holidays come around. For others there may be difficult memories of holidays gone by that have left wounds in their hearts and minds making it hard to enjoy current celebrations. So that are many reasons why this may be a difficult time of year for people instead of a joy-filled one.
With so many conflicting energies rolling around in the atmosphere, how can we make it through without caving into the gravitational pull of the denser vibes?
