The issues mentioned in the heading of this post are ones that preoccupy most of us at one time or another but become particularly active and stressful during times of change.
Energy, stability, security, health and prosperity….all positive states that we desire…and that we too often seek to remedy outside ourselves regardless of how many times we may have heard that our answers lie within!
Nowhere is a sense of lack and the search to remedy it from the outside stronger or more frustrating than with issues connected to imbalances in the root chakra—the foundation of our BEING.
Our behavior and attention displays a stubborn belief that more money, other people’s time, attention and love, or just the right something will soothe our angst. Some part of us has a really hard time settling down and taking the inner journey necessary to create real change.
Early Life Experience and Reactivity
One of the reasons difficulties with the issues connected to root chakra energy are so hard is that the source of our imbalance is not only invisible…it is also very unconscious AND does not have language attached. Issues connected with the root chakra were imbedded before we had language or cognitive awareness. The memory and subsequent reactivity is stored as an energetic feeling state and does not respond to verbal or cognitive solutions. Methods such as energy healing, imagery, inner child work and meridian are much more successful with root chakra issues.
Trauma, family stress and a lack of appropriate nurturing during the first few years of life unbalance root chakra energies. Early disruption of this energy is recorded within the system and results in amplification of reactions to later losses or upsets such as loss of a job, living situation or person in your life.
Positive and Negative Manifestations of Root Chakra Energy
The positive archetype for the root chakra is the Earth Mother. A person with strong, positive root energy honors and cares for the body as a sacred vessel that carries them in the material world. Physical needs are well cared for which results in healthy vitality as well as abundant energy to flow upward to nurture the higher chakras. The higher chakras can then help to expand your inner world positively, and open up greater creative manifestation and expanded spiritual experience.
Emotionally a lack of first chakra energy can manifest as being too rigid and not open to change change, or there may be difficulty with being “overly grounded” —-this is evidenced through being controlling, or lacking in imagination or initiative.
If root energy is steady and balanced you can transcend fear—thoughts of loss do not disturb your inner peace, sap your strength or drain your vitality. Fear does not always show up as an outright anxiety disorder or phobia, it may also appear as shyness, dread or fear of criticism. Many people feel fear as an absence of security or as difficulty experiencing inner stability, safety and comfort.
Working to heal the root chakra may not be the most exciting but it is really fundamental for the healthy attainment of all the worthy goals we seek in life.
