The pulsations of our hearts are an intelligent language that influences how we perceive and react to the world. When we focus in the heart and produce coherent rhythms we see more clearly, are less influenced by the primitive brain and are more open to receiving input from our higher centers. This input has wisdom and creativity that our lower brain centers are not capable of. We can consciously develop the wisdom of the heart to help create more meaningful, satisfying and loving lives.
We constantly adjust our energy to each other and our environment. We do it quite naturally and unconsciously. If we become aware and skillful managing this process, we are more empowered and have more control over our feelings, moods and interactions in the world.
We do not typically realize how our environment, background noise or annoying sounds can entrain our fields and derail us!
Years ago Tony and I did a series of workshops together and one of the “exercises” we did was to have participants become aware of the subtle experience and effects of a series of normal everyday sounds on their energy fields. The sounds were: windshield wipers on a rainy day, dogs barking, irritating music, street noise etc. Participants were quite amazed at the effects on their energy fields and the resulting feelings that they would not usually relate to such “subtle” background noise in the environment.
Once we are aware we have the choice to take control and shift through more pleasant triggers. The same is true for relationships. We all are affecting each other all the time for good or ill.
Our relationships are affected by all our energies. However the heart center has a strong and major influence, especially with those we are closest to. Our heart center is the largest center in our bodies. Negative feelings hurt, close us down and the pressure of pent up energies can cause us to strike out in anger or frustration. These all have a negative effect on not only our moods and relationships but also our health. Conversely love, tenderness and care affect our hearts with postitive, healing energy. These feelings expand our field out in all directions at the same time that they have a positive effect on body and mind.
To give you an idea about the strength of the heart: our heart is capable of 2.5 watts of power with each beat. This is enough power to light a small night light or a small radio. The heart is 5000 times more powerful than the brain.
Our heart signal does not stop at the level of the skin but radiates out 4-5 feet. It is sensitive to our emotions, thoughts, level of well being and environment. Depression, illness, fatigue and stress all affect its proper function.
Opening and balancing our heart increases its coherence. Coherence is correlated with good health and a feeling of buoyancy. We normally have a slight incoherence from one heartbeat to another. When we have feelings of love, appreciation or gratitude, the waves become dramatically more coherent, uniform and consistent.
At the Institute of HeartMath (www.instituteofheartmath.com) more coherent wave patterns were found to create more balance and harmony within the nervous system which correlates with greater immunity. Perhaps this is why we tend toward better health when we are in love!
The bottom line is that there is an energetic reality to our interchanges, interaction, reactions and attractions. If we understood and managed these energies consciously, we could significantly improve our communications at work and at home, as well as improve our health and well being!
