This past week I was away for a few days with a good friend who I have periodically traveled with over the years. We were remembering some of our trips together and as we talked I became aware of the very different traveler I am today versus the one I was so many years ago when we first began our trips.
Some of the changes could be chalked up to experience, although I believe that what we call experience is actually the result of unconsciously shifting our energy. There is nothing wrong with that of course but I believe we can get better results if we take a proactive approach to being in touch with and consciously managing our energy fields.
I had been noticing differences in lots of life experiences as a result of my “energy work”, but on this trip my awareness was particularly sharp regarding the way my comfort level with strange places and stressful events, crowds, the unknown, getting lost, and sleeping had changed.
A Foundation that Works for You As unexciting as it seems (when compared to other energetic techniques) working with centering and grounding one’s energy field helps to establish “new normal” and affects all of our life experiences. It is like a solid foundation that supports and makes possible all the rest that we might desire whether we are speaking about reducing stress or eliminating anxiety, having a greater sense of freedom and openness, increasing intuition, attaining our goals or realizing the ultimate experience of enlightenment.
For me crowds have always been as issue. In the past it has felt as if I am a radio tower that picks up all the local broadcasts getting overwhelmed and filled with static that creates confusion and irritability. Having developed a capacity for flexible energetic boundaries has helped me be able to be in crowds of people without going on information overload. Although the actual physical proximity of large numbers of other people was never an issue for me, I know it is for other people. In this case working with grounding and centering allows for the development of stronger, more resilient energetic boundaries that provide a sense of ease peace and safety when encountering others.
Sleeping in unfamiliar places had long been an issue for me but once I was in touch with flowing my energy and learning how to embody myself…to truly be present from the inside out, and energetically release the stress of the day… sleeping in new places became a non-issue.
Now, getting lost! This is of course can be a stressful thing at any time but becomes even more so the further away from familiar environments we travel. Confusion, anxiety and anger can all arise and make it hard to do what you must do to find our way…the same could be said for life itself! Being able to recognize when our energy begins to rise up in a way that causes anxiety allows for a shift in flow that reestablishes our ability to focus and attend in a way that serves problem solving. Trying to accomplish this through mere intellectual means leaves a lot to be desired as you may have noticed!
On the first couple of days of our recent trip it was raining which I have found to usually mean that when driving people are going to be less clear thinking, predictable or exercising good judgment in their driving behavior…all of which raises the stress level! My suspicion is that auras get scrambled compromising logical thought and good motor skills! In addition the city we were in had had wandering cows layout the design of their narrow twisting one way roadways! In any case, it was very helpful to be able to move out of reactive mode into more acceptance and ease through adjusting my own energy rather than cursing the gods, cows or my fellow man.

Whether you are deciding on a small or life altering alternative, your energy is a source of information that can be an invaluable and accurate aid. Being in touch with your subtle energy can help inform you about which way to go, how to respond, who or what you should be involved with—and it does all this out of the realm of non-beneficial storylines or befuddling mind chatter!
I have often said that learning about subtle energy is in some ways like learning a new language. However once you learn some simple principles and practice them, your whole world becomes a different place, one you can navigate with greater ease, satisfaction, meaning, fun and fulfillment.
