In our last post we spoke about energy awareness and becoming knowledgeable re: the use of subtle energy. This ability to use energy to improve our lives is the way of the future….actually it is here now but still only really being embraced by a particular segment of the world’s population. There are many ways that energy awareness is emerging and sometimes it pops up in surprising places.
I am sure you have heard the song in the video below but here it is again because it is fun and because it has to do with energy! Today I heard an interview with Pharrell Williams and he was asked about his ability to “see” music (Synesthesia). He talked about seeing the notes and chords as different colors. Apparently there are other musicians who share this ability (Billy Joel, Duke Ellington, Stevie Wonder).
Valerie Hunt ( a UCLA Neurophysiologist) did an experiment some years ago where she attached EMG (electromyography) electrodes at the 7 main chakra points on the front of the body—she was able to correlate the frequency of color and certain notes with the chakra points. The ancients have long described the chakras as being of a particular color (our eye perceives frequency as color) and attuned to a specific tone. (Tony has in fact used this information in writing the music for our recordings, especially the chakra programs.)
I find it fascinating that Pharrell Williams describes the notes and chords in this piece of music as predominately red, orange with a tinge of pink and yellow. These are the frequencies of the 1st (root), 2cd (sacral) and 3rd (solar plexus). So these are the chakras stimulated by this music: Root Chakra–Movement….I dare you to stay still as you listen to this; guaranteed you will at least tap your foot ….because of the mixing of the music chances are you will experience some level of fluid movement /sensory pleasure….the music feels good–second chakra!….and then of course happy feelings…third chakra and the appropriate name for the song.
Noticing how various types of music affect you throughout the week and making a more conscious effort to choose what is really helpful rather than unconsciously allowing this part of your experience (and energy/feelings/nervous system) to chance.
Music is a great way to intentionally influence your energy/mood. Maybe start here! Enjoy!
