A Healthy Approach to Overwhelm, Anger and Stress

Letting go of difficult feelings is important for your health
Current events can bring on overwhelm, anger, or frustration. While it is understandable to have all these feelings marinating in the chemistry of those feelings for too long nothing for us. At best they can propel us toward some helpful action but they can also adversely affect our mental, emotional and physical health. Having tools to acknowledge and move the energy along opens up the space to do what may need to be done and gives us inner balance that maintains our sanity and health.

Letting go through shifting to higher states of consciousness
Having a practice that develops the ability to shift levels of consciousness not only facilitates our optimum functioning but also helps us to be able to move beyond lower energy states that only cause problems for us.

At first glance it can seem uncaring to focus on shifting to a higher state of consciousness especially if others are suffering. But we may ask, how does it serve another to feel as angry, frustrated, downtrodden, sad, or grief stricken as they do’? We can only help others if we work at keeping ourselves strong and healthy. It is then we can help to raise them in whatever way is appropriate or possible.

Letting go by practicing present moment awareness
We can practice living more in the present moment through becoming aware of our troublesome thoughts and emotions, detaching from them, and moving to a more neutral state of mind. Centering techniques help move us out of inner turmoil and help to build strong energy that fosters clear thinking and honest emotion. It is only from your “nowness” you can truly be of help to others.
