We are going through massive changes as a society. When huge change occurs chaos and confusion are often present. Being able to center and ground ourselves is an important way to maintain our equilibrium through such times.
Not only is the earth and society changing, we are also. We are all being challenged to expand our consciousness and live from a “higher” level of awareness. Addressing our chakra system goes to the foundation of all these changes.
A major area that is being re-shaped in humanity’s psyche is that of competition VS cooperation. Simply this can be seen as a move from ego centric to heart centered. However we are complex beings with deep interconnections that are affected as we make a move or a change in our lives. In this case, as we move from being ego-centric to heart centered, there are reverberations throughout our system. One are that gets triggered by change of any kind is our root chakra. With any shift, good or bad our root is going to be activated. Issues around safety, security and belongs will be sparked. If we have done our healing work then this may be nothing more than a time of awareness and adjustment to the new. If we have not done any “work” to heal or integrate our past issues re: these areas then we will probably experience some symptoms or signs of imbalance.
Here are some questions that can help us to become more conscious of how our root chakra will respond to changes in our lives? It is only through knowing our deepest truth that we can be truly informed so we can release our highest potential.
Do I feel in charge of myself and my life with these changes/moves/shifts? Or do I feel something is being done to me?
How does this affect my standing/sense of belonging within my tribe/group/family? Am I at peace with those places or am I having conflicts internally or externally? E.G. Both strong immersion and complete distance from family or groups indicate that there are issues not resolved. Equally we can be “at war” within ourselves over issues related to these areas.
Do I feel connected to life, to others in health giving ways? E.G. Am I often spacey, caught in too much daydreaming (different than being able to envision one’s goals etc.), head tripping/fantasy?
How well is my immune system operating? Under or over functioning are each their own problem and can give hints as to what is going on psychologically€¦give clues to what is necessary for healing.
Do I often feel fatigued and not have the energy for basic self-care, to rise to the challenges in my life or to feel the passion necessary for deeply appreciating and experiencing the gift of physicality and living with a felt sense of purpose?
Do I feel safe in the world, in my environment without going overboard on precautions or compensating in some unhealthy way? E.G. overworking, “collecting” possessions, over scheduling/involvement with people, places or things.
Do I get defensive or feel like I have to defend myself often? Do I frequently doubt my choices and decisions?
Much of what is alluded to with these questions are really just issues we deal with as human beings…the point is to be honest with ourselves so we can implement more skillful in our lives. Being in touch with our energy provides us with a way to get past the resistance of our conscious minds to the truth about our inner most feelings so we can heal imbalances. Being in touch with our deepest energies also provides us with new options to strengthen and balance our energy so our highest potential and full authentic Self expression can be expressed
One of the things I find in my work is that many want to focus on opening and engaging higher spiritual or intuitive abilities to the exclusion of dealing with the foundational energies such as are embodied in the “lower” chakras. Just as a building or a society needs a strong base or foundation in order to grow with durability and resiliency so do we!
