Subtle resistance constricts our energy which then negatively impacts our mood, health, ability to concentrate and focus.
Subtle resistance is something most of us do not think about or recognize. Most when questioned about resistance would say that they are not resistant to good things whether they be how they feel, think or have. This is certainly true for us consciously however there are contradictory beliefs held out of awareness that are operating.
Several years ago I had an “AHA” about how subtle resistance was operating in my life. After much study in the fields of Mind-Body Medicine and Energy Psychology, it came to me that although I was fundamentally positive in my philosophy and outlook on life, there was a subtle resistance functioning below the level of everyday awareness that was affecting me and my life. It was the link between energy and mind/body/spirit that helped me not only see how resistance was working, but also how to begin to unravel the knot of its effects.
Our intellect know and believes one thing but it is our body ( unconscious mind) that tells the story of what is really going on. It is in fact a source of deep wisdom and truth.
Some Background: Ancient Medicine and Current Research
Chinese and Indian Medicine have had centuries of practice with modalities that include mind-body and energy techniques. In other words, they have a philosophy and practice that takes into account the whole person.
Our western modern medicine and “healthcare” are the newcomers on the block and have embraced an evidenced based approach that focuses on symptoms and a uni-faceted view of ill health. It also relies heavily on extensive repetitions of double blind studies to proclaim an intervention valid and useful.
With the advent of modern technology there has been an ability to study consciousness, the brain and energy systems and modalities in ways that have not been possible before. There has always been a great deal of subjective evidence of the effectiveness of mind-body and energy psychology techniques but in the west there has been the desire for “proof” of a more objective kind before integrating these methods into the mainstream.
I first came across mentions of the scientific research re: energy and physical and psychological health in the 70’s. The two sources for research information available to me were: Yoga and Psychotherapy: The Evolution of Consciousness by Vibrational Medicine: The #1 Handbook of Subtle-Energy Therapies by
